“I watched Chip Parton, go from a activist for his hometown to now a candidate for his hometown Council. Chip was also recently endorsed by the Sierra Club of Western North Carolina where I was able to learn more about him. I’ve learned about his story and his fight for representation for his neighbors on the west side of Woodfin. He spoke about prioritizing the natural beauty of clean water and mountainsides in his community. He understands the importance of growth for the future but believes development should be healthy not hefty. In his own trade as a plumber he can quickly recognize both good and bad practices, a skill that I think will help him run a Town. He believes the future of Woodfin is in its long term sense of community. The key is to attract new young families to put down roots in Woodfin as part of a sustainable vibrant economic community — a place where anyone can call Woodfin home. As a Buncombe County commissioner, I like his energy, his ideas, and most of all his eagerness to use local government as a tool to help people, not himself. Vote for Chip Parton for Woodfin Town Council on November 4.”
